Basey, Bob and LewVon

Class of 2023

Bob and LewVon married in 1950 and lived their entire lives in the Homedale and Marsing area. Together they farmed, ranched, rodeoed, and roped. In the early years Bob roped calves at many local amateur rodeos. LewVon developed her love of rodeo competition traveling extensively in the Pacific Northwest competing in the GNRA (Girls Northwest Rodeo Association) and IGRA. She excelled in calf roping, goat tying, steer undecorating, team roping and her favorite event wild cow riding. LewVon earned All-Around honors throughout the 1960s at Grand Coulee, Toppenish, and Ellensburg, WA. , going as far north as Lethbridge Alberta. LewVon was also a charter member of the IGRA (Idaho Girls Rodeo Association) and was an undying advocate for rodeo for women.
The Owyhee County Fair and Homedale Rodeo was a focus for the Basey family. Bob served on the Board and was the Arena Director for over 20 years, LewVon served as the Head Timer and together they volunteered hundreds of hours for the success of the fair and rodeo.
