Cunningham, Lisa

Class of 2023

Lisa won her first buckle in 1969, when she was three years old in the IGRA. Her rodeo career took off after that. Lisa competed in about every event available. In 1978 Lisa won her first steer riding buckle at the Homedale Idaho rodeo against the boys. Lisa won the Little Britches all around several times. She won the Idaho High School Rodeo All around in 1983. Lisa won Idaho District 2 High School girls all-around in 1984 along with the IGRA all around the same year. That year she team roped with her good friend Carla Hammond Rogers and they were one of the first all-girls teams to go to the National High School Rodeo Finals in Team Roping from Idaho. Lisa attended college on Rodeo scholarships where she competed in goats, breakaway and team roping. She competed at the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Finals in all three events. Lisa was in the NIRA top 5 goat tyers in 1987 and 1988, where she won the NW Region Champion title both years. She was inducted into the NIRA Hall of fame for goat tying.
Lisa has been dedicated to the rodeo community since the day she swung a leg over her first horse. To this day she continues to promote rodeo, especially for women and youth. She has been in charge of the CNR Jr. Rodeo for about 15 years, and recently has taken over the “So you Think you are a Cowgirl” event.
