Harold "Curly" Heath: Legendary Rodeo Clown and Bullfighter

Harold "Curly" Heath, in Emmett, Idaho, began his illustrious rodeo career as a clown and bullfighter in 1949 at his hometown rodeo. What started with one event quickly grew to over 30 rodeos annually. Known for his fearless and skillful performances, Curly became a sought-after figure in the rodeo circuit. During World War II, Curly proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Central to his act was his mule, Minnie Pearl, and Curly's routines became iconic in the rodeo world. His innovative acts and quick wit set the standard for many clowns today. Curly earned numerous accolades, including multiple "ICA Bullfighter and Clown of the Year" awards, showcasing his mastery in protecting bull riders and entertaining crowds.

Even after scaling back in the late 1960s, Curly continued to influence the rodeo community, contributing to the Idaho High School Rodeo Association, Little Britches rode, and mentoring aspiring performers. His dedication and impact on rodeo safety and entertainment earned him enduring respect and admiration.
Curly Heath's legacy as a pioneer in rodeo bullfighting lives on, celebrated in his induction into the Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame, a testament to his lasting influence on the sport.
